Fly Dakota is operated by the Warbirds Dakota Society, an incorporated, non profit making organisation affiliated to the New Zealand Warbirds Association and devoted to the preservation and operation of the DC-3/C-47 aircraft type. As a member you will have the opportunity to participate in flying activities including special trips to various events and Air Shows around New Zealand at reduced airfares. A newsletter covering items such as operation of the aircraft, past and future events is published five times a year and distributed to all members

Membership is divided into two categories: Owner and Associate. Owner membership gives you a share in the ownership of the aircraft. This is currently limited to 50 persons and costs NZ$6,000.00. To be able to fly the aircraft as a qualified pilot, you must have owner membership. Generally there are owner slots available as older members retire from active flying. Younger suitably qualified CPL’s or ATPL’s are welcome to maintain a progression of experience on the type and of course, non aviators are welcome to be owners as well. Associate Membership is available to supporters for the annual fee of NZ$50.00.
